Director of Music Ministry Position Details
Within the Catholic tradition, liturgical music is not seen as “entertainment” but as a form of prayer that enhances the overall worship experience.
Requirements/responsibilities will include:
Coordinate with the Pastor on the planning of music and other aspects of Sunday liturgies (Mass) and other special liturgical events taking into consideration the liturgical season, theme of the liturgy, and Scripture Readings. Preparation of a liturgy plan for each Sunday and distribution to the choir members.
Recruitment, training and weekly rehearsals of choir members and cantors.
Providing musical accompaniment to cantors and choirs at weekend Masses and the Our Lady of Fatima School Mass on Wednesdays during the school year.
Meeting with families to plan and provide musical selections for funerals and weddings.
Consultation with the Pastor regarding the selection of hymnals and other purchases.
Other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant will have a background in music with emphasis on liturgical music. Experience planning liturgies and leading a choir is highly desirable.
